NLS to review refreshable braille displays

By Alicia Waters | November 9, 2016

On July 29, 2016, President Obama signed an amendment to the 1931 Pratt-Smoot Act. This amendment passed by Congress and signed by the President will allow National Library Services to explore providing refreshable braille displays to members in the future. Karen Keninger, NLS Director, is hopeful new refreshable braille displays will be developed that are “low cost, low maintenance” devices which NLS could acquire to loan to NLS members in the coming years.
