ADA 25th Testimonial Event
By Alicia Waters | August 4, 2015
In a panel event full of great testimonials, it was said that the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) role is to lead in the achievement of “connectedness” and “employment” for people with disabilities. Employment should be achieved through diverse and open networks and opportunities. The agency wants to “export those ideas,” to make them a priority and do whatever they need to do to make communication accessible for people with disabilities such as blindness and deafness.
FCC hosted this event to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 23, 2015 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event, presented by the agency’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau, also recognized the 5th anniversary of the Twenty-first Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2010 (CVAA), which will be occurring in October of this year.
The free webcast of the event, with open captioning over the Internet, is available from FCC.gov/live.
