When a Cartridge Won't Play
By Alicia Waters | February 10, 2012
Back in December it was announced that a Digital Talking Book Machine software revision is being added to digital book cartridges in December 2011. This works with books recorded at the National Library Services for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS). However, when a book is recorded at a network library, the software may not be on the digital book cartridge. Email tbplus@olis.ri.gov or call 574-9310 at Talking Books Plus to request a software cartridge to insert into the player to update the player. The cartridge should then play the book.
NLS books are coded RC and DB. Locally produced books have different codes such as DBM.
