Volunteer to Earn Bookshare Subscription

By Alicia Waters | May 5, 2009

Bookshare’s goal is to make the world of print accessible to people with disabilities. Bookshare is free for students with qualifying disabilities. If you are not a student but have a qualifying disability, you can earn a subscription to Bookshare. Bookshare awards $2.50 in credits for successfully submitting or validating a book. Bookshare applies these credits to your account as a volunteer once the book has been added to the library. Volunteers with print disabilities can apply these credits toward their membership fees. Sighted volunteers can donate their credits to Bookshare Members. For more information, visit the Bookshare Volunteer webpage. Bookshare books can be read on the Victor Stream Reader, , a product of HumanWare. And the Victor Stream Reader will read digital audiobooks from the new NLS BARD System .
