Telephone Book Clubs

By Alicia Waters | February 17, 2009

In the UK, there are telephone book clubs that bring people together from across the country.  Small groups of 8 people come together on the telephone to chat about reading and books in general. It is invaluable for contact with other people who participants would otherwise might never interact with. It is a social source for those who live alone or who are stuck indoors because of their sight loss and mobility problems. Group members use telephone sessions to share experiences and challenges including getting copies of the latest bestseller in a preferred format such as talking book, braille or large print. The content of this blog came from the Royal National Institute of Blind People.
