Librarian Appreciation Day at Atria Bay Spring Village
By Alicia Waters | October 1, 2019
On September 26, the Atria Bay Spring Village in Barrington, RI held a celebration for librarians who have positively impacted the lives of their residents. Alicia Waters, Regional Librarian, Talking Books Library as well as librarians from Barrington Public Library, Barrington schools and the East Providence Library were in attendance.
The afternoon was filled with wonderful stories from residents about how librarians had improved the quality of their lives and how much they appreciated the services and resources provided. A Talking Book Library member stood up and offered her heartfelt thanks and told us how this program was her lifeline after the death of her husband a few years ago. Each resident also wrote a short note of thanks which was hung on a wall where just below, a cake shaped like a book was displayed with the words “librarians are tour guides for all of knowledge.”
We thank the Atria Bay Spring Village, their wonderful staff and residents, as well as all of the librarians across the state who share the joy of reading and promote the talking book services to their patrons.
