Assistive Technology Conference of New England ATCNE

By Alicia Waters | November 22, 2019

The Assistive Technology Conference of New England (ATCNE) hosted by TechAccess of RI, took place on November 14 and 15, 2019 at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, RI.  “Since 1988, Rhode Island’s annual conference on assistive technology has offered state-of-the-art workshops, information and exhibits on the technologies that enhance and change the lives of persons with disabilities of all ages. Attended each year by hundreds from Rhode Island, New England, and beyond, the conference focuses on uses of technology in education, communication, employment, recreation, home, and independent living.”

Many exhibitors including the Talking Books Library participated in the conference providing information and demonstration on materials and equipment.  On-site was the New England Assistive Technology (NEAT), Smart Solutions for Livability House.  The house features remote control by switch or head movement for lighting, TV, oven range, telephone, window shades and just about everything there is in your home.

If you weren’t able to visit the conference this year, don’t miss out in 2020.  The ATCNE conference is always held in mid-November and is hosted by TechAccess of Rhode Island.
