Multiple Books on 1 Cartridge
By Alicia Waters | March 3, 2023
Perkins in Watertown, MA which is the vendor that sends out books for the RI Talking Books Library program, has begun placing multiple titles on a single cartridge for some members. Once the cartridge is inserted into the player, it will say how many titles are on the cartridge, but it will not tell you the specific titles. You may skip to the next title on the cartridge by pressing down the fast forward button FF or by using bookshelf mode.
- To enter Bookshelf mode, hold down the green, square Play/Stop button at the front of your digital machine.
- After about five seconds you will hear a beep and the machine will announce “Bookshelf.”
- Then it will announce the name of the book/magazine that was most recently played (or all of the books if you are at the beginning).
- To move to another book/magazine, press either the rewind (RW) or fast-forward (FF) buttons. (These are the triangular/arrow shaped white buttons on either side of the Play/Stop button.) The player always announces the titles of the books/magazines.
- After you hear the title you are interested in, please press the green square play/stop button to begin that book.
If you are receiving multiple titles per cartridge and would like only 1 title per cartridge, please call us at (401)574-9310 or email talking.books@olis.ri.gov and will we contact Perkins.
