By Alicia Waters | January 6, 2014

Saturday, January 4th commemorates World Braille Day, the birth of Louis Braille. Louis was blinded in an accident as a toddler. As a teenager, Louis developed the Braille system. 205 years after Louis’ birth, RI Talking Books Plus, a regional network library of the National Library Services for the Blind and Physically Handicapped today is providing Braille reading materials to eligible Rhode Islanders through a contract with the Perkins Library in Massachusetts.
